Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet

Last night my husband and I met up with my good friend, David, to go to the Whitaker Center in Harrisburg to see a performance of the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet. I took my camera in the hopes that I could photograph it but they announced before the performance began that no photography was allowed. I was super bummed because I know what an amazing group of young people they are. So, since a post is better with pictures I'm posting two photos that fit the theme of dance.

I took this photograph for my college newspaper of the ballet at the University of Alabama. They have an amazing dance program there. One of my roommates was a dance major so I saw most dance programs throughout my years there. At my last job, I photographed this photo for a magazine in Harrisburg. This was the then president and CEO for the Whitaker Center with the Russian American Kids Circus. This is the same stage that we saw the ballet at last night, the Sunoco Theater.

My 28th Birthday (Part 2)

My birthday continued with a long weekend to go visit my mom and sister in Smithfield, Virginia (near Norfolk). On Friday, we watched Game 7 of the Stanley Cup and got to see my husband’s team (he’s originally from Pittsburgh) the Pittsburgh Penguins win it all. It was so exciting. I also got another cake made for me. On Saturday morning, we went to the local Farmer’s Market and visited with all my mom’s friends and neighbors. They had so many different things for sale (produce, baked goods, candles, flowers, handmade soaps, even pets that you could adopt.
Here’s my mom picking out some squash.
Then she asked for string beans.

The next photos are of some of the puppies up for adoption.
This one was my favorite! I loved his coloring.

Then my mom took us to the Smithfield Inn for an elegant lunch.

My 28th Birthday (Part 1)

Today is my 28th Birthday! My husband and I shared some cake that he had made at a local bakery, he cut me fresh flowers from our garden, and he bought me the new Jason Mraz CD. Posts are always better with photos as one of my favorite photographer's says (Jasmine Star), so here are 2 from the evening.

Cheryl & Andy Get Married!

On May 30th, my husband and I were a part of Andy & Cheryl's wedding. Andy is my husband's cousin and Toby was a groomsman while I photographed the wedding. They got married in the small town of Kittanning in Western Pennsylvania. It took place in a small church there that their grandmother attends and it was also the place my husband took me to meet his entire family when we first started dating for his grandmother's 80th birthday party. We also went down to a park along the river for more photos that we took before the ceremony.
