The End of Summer

Each year we know it is summer when, out in our large garden, our sunflowers begin to bloom. This year my  husband planted hundreds of seeds of many different varieties and they took off. They grew to be over ten feet tall and every size, shape and color. They are one of my favorite types of flowers, so I think it is so sweet that my husband grows them just for me. We cut a ton and put them in vases throughout the house all through the summer. We gave them away to friends that needed to be cheered up and had friends come over and cut their own since there were way more than we could use in our home. Here are some of my photos of them throughout the summer.
I love how the sun sets each evening through the tall stalks and radiates through the pedals.

I love how every detail is so intricate and beautiful.

My favorite. The seed we planted was called 'Lemon'.
The end of our sunflowers marks the end of summer at our home each year.
