Katie & Josh Get Married! (the Reception)

For the reception, the guests moved from Mulder Chapel to the Port Ewen Room. The decorations were amazing and so was the display of food. But my favorite place at the reception was the cake table. The cake was beautiful and as the night went on more things started being placed by the cake, first the bride's bouquet, then the groom's Marine sword (they would later cut the cake with it.

First the bridal party was introduced as they walked in to the
reception hall, and then the bride and groom walked straight
onto the dance floor for their first dance as husband and wife.
Here is a detail shot of that moment.
I love the emotion in this picture. Just perfect!
The groom's daughter looking on as her dad dances with
her new step mom. Too sweet!
Then the toasts were given. First up was the best man,
who was also the younger brother of the groom.
Then the matron of honor gave her toast.
The bride and groom really enjoyed the
toasts that were given in their honor.
After dinner, the bride had her dance with her father.
Such a sweet moment!
Then the groom danced with his gorgeous mother!
I personally love this shot because I had the privilege
of photographing both of these couple's weddings.
Left to Right: Josh and Katie and Ben and Josie
(Josie is Katie's older sister). I photographed Ben and Josie's
wedding last year in the town of Carlisle, Pennsylvania
(near where I live).
Here's a great family photo of Josh, Katie and Kaylee
all dancing. Little Kaylee was having so much fun dancing with
her father and new step-mother.
Overall shot of the cake table
Detail photograph of the cake, bride's bouquet and groom
Marine sword (which they used to cut the cake).
Detail photograph of the flowers on the cake.
Another detail photograph of the cake. This time it is of
the cake topper - little figurine replicas of the happy couple.
A fitting shot to end the postings from this wedding.
Thank you Josh and Katie for letting me be a part
of your Big Day! It was truly magical and I hope it
was all you dreamed it would be!

Katie and Josh Get Married! (Ceremony)

It was the most beautiful summer day, this Memorial Day, in the mountains of Warwick, NY (which is located just 50 miles northwest of New York City close to the United States Military Academy at West Point) at the Mulder Chapel. The sky was the perfect blue with the wispy clouds moving across it. The ceremony was personal and touching. The scenic, panoramic views were breathtaking and made for the perfect backdrop for portraits. If you are looking for a beautiful place to get married then look no farther than the Warwick Center. Here's the link to view this wedding ceremony site: The Warwick Center

Mulder Chapel on the hilltop of the
465 acre estate of The Warwick Center.

The father walking his daughter down the aisle.

I loved the cobalt blue of the bridesmaids dresses. So unique!
Love this detail shot of the bride, her bouquet and the groom.
The beautiful vaulted ceilings in the chapel.
Exchanging rings
The kiss and a dip
They are now husband and wife! A brief moment that the couple
shared after the ceremony was over and they had left the chapel.
Check back soon for the last post from this wedding - the reception!

Katie & Josh Get Married! (Portraits)

I had the honor of photographing not one but two weddings for the same family! This year it was Katie's turn (the bride seen below), but last year I photographed her older sister, Josie's wedding. To see photos from that wedding click on this link Josie and Ben Get Married! I couldn't have been happier to document Katie and Josh's beautiful summer wedding! They are a fantastic couple and I wish them nothing but love and happiness for the future.

Here's Katie, the gorgeous bride! She was so
beautiful (both inside and out)!

The wedding took place at the Warwick Center which
was on a mountain overlooking the Hudson Valley. The
groom was born in this small town so it had significance
for the couple. I love this photo and how the wind
swept her veil away during the photo.

The whole Dykstra family: mom and dad
and their four daughters.
The bride and her new little step-daughter, Kaylee.
The girls walking to the place where we would do portraits.
 The precious flower girls
 Katie and her bridesmaids

The handsome groom, Josh. He is in the Marine Corps.

The Brands family: The groom with his parents,
three brothers and one sister.
Josh and his daughter, Kaylee
Josh and his groomsmen
Josh gave all his groomsmen as gifts the knives they
are holding in this photo. I have to say (and my husband
agrees) this is the coolest shot of the groom and groomsmen
that I have ever taken. So unique, I just love it!
The whole bridal party
The groom with his best man beside him and
the bride with her matron of honor beside her.

This is my favorite photo of the happy couple!
You guys look fantastic and so in love!

I also took some photos of the groom, his daughter
and the bride. What a happy family!
