We traveled back home to the South this past Thanksgiving in order to do one special thing for my relatives - to take family portraits for my Aunt Debbie, Uncle Rich and cousins. We were in Alabama and Tennessee to visit with my grandmother and Uncle Kenny and then we drove on Thanksgiving day to see the rest of our family. I wanted to do this because my Aunt Debbie was very sick battling Stage IV breast cancer. She is the 3rd sibling to be diagnosed with cancer (though they were all a different form of cancer). Having lost my father (her oldest brother) and my mother now, I know how important the portraits are that I have of my family. I felt so helpless but knew I could at least take family portraits for them to use for their Christmas cards and to cherish for a lifetime that follows. Sadly on January 15, 2014, my Aunt Debbie lost her battle with breast cancer and passed away. She would be reunited with her two older brothers and her father (who we lost in Oct. 2012 to Alzheimer's Disease) along with her two sisters-in-law (one is my mom). These are my favorite photos from their portrait session and I am so glad I was able to go when I did. Aunt Debbie, I love you and will miss you! Your niece, Lizzie
